ANGAI FAKAVA

DRUMS/KEYBOARD

"Blues ain't easy, but it ain't hard music. It can be challenging but that's what made me the musician I am today."

ANGAI FAKAVA

Angai brings a whole new vibe to Rich and the Poor Boys, and it's great to have him on board. He is, in his own words "Full Tonga, born and raised in Dunedin. I learned piano and drums at the age of 7. I grew up playing keyboard for my church, and picked up the guitar in High School when I was 14. I've been in many bands - Reggae and Christian music have always been my favourite genres - though Kava Tonga music consists of a lot of Blues which I love, and why I have a lot experience playing many genres including R&B, Soul Rock, and Funk. It's been over 5 years since I've played drums and getting back into it, Blues ain't easy, but it ain't hard music. It can be challenging but that's what made me the musician I am today."

RICH

"Early UK influences were The Rolling Stones, Savoy Brown (with John O'Leary) and Fleetwood Mac (with Peter Green). Now listening to some of the greats: Little Walter, Rice Miller (aka Sonny Boy Williamson II), Howlin' Wolf and Junior Wells."

ANDREW

"My primary interest has alway been Blues - my first record purchase when I was 11 years old was a compilation of the greats - John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy, Elmore James etc."

DENNY

"For me, it's all about the old guys - Robert Johnson, Son House, Skip James, Sleepy John Estes, Charley Patton etc. Having said that, I've got to include Willie Dixon!"
